Yin yoga is a quiet, mindful form of yoga, where the practitioner stays in a pose for a longer while. This addresses the deeper tissues in our bodies, such as tendons, ligaments and bones. These tissues contain less fluid, circulation and dry up as we age. Yin yoga keeps us flexible and prevents and decreases joint pains! The specific Yin poses pull the bones apart, gently press and pull on the bones. The strong bodily sensations that can occur in these poses are an invitation to become mindful and a tool for growth and transformation for the practitioner. We learn to be with less pleasant situations without immediately, impulsively reacting, because we learn that everything is changing. We become more patient, and more aware in the present moment. A must in a society where the present moment is reduced to a race to the next momentâ€¦.
